Fellowship
Circles The Ladies Missionary League of Bethel (LWML) is a society member of Lutheran Women’s Missionary League–Canada. The mission of all members of the LWML is to serve the Lord and to encourage one another. We are called to grow in and reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “Called To Serve” is both our Motto and theme hymn. At Bethel, we hold five meetings each year on the second Tuesday, of January, April, June, September and October. In addition to business all meetings include a devotion or Bible Study usually led by our Pastor. In April, our Friendship Meeting, we encourage members to bring a friend and hear a guest speaker. Our speakers come from different community services or one of the Lutheran Organizations doing Mission work.
We have been holding an annual drive for clothing or specific items as needed by Canadian Lutheran World Relief or Medical Missions. There are work days in spring to sew lap robes or hospital gowns; roll bandages and to package items for shipping. In November we host a Missions Bazaar and the net proceeds are divided amongst different Mission Organizations. Members
attend the Waterloo Zone Prayer Service, Spring and
Fall Rallies, and occasional retreats or workshops held throughout the
year. A delegate is sent to the Ontario District Convention every three
years, and we participate in the funding for a Zone Delegate for the Canada
Convention.
The
Ladies’ Guild is a Christian
organization within Bethel Lutheran Church, which was founded on May 4, 1955.
Its meetings are held in the German language and are led by Magda Ristau. The
Guild’s priority is the furthering of Christian community. The Ladies’ Guild
meets at 2 pm in Room B on the first Tuesday in February, April, June,
September and November.
